This blog is for the thinking Muslim. In this blog, we shall be discussing themes and ideas which will be controversial and challenging, which will hopefully encourage people to reflect. Covering subjects as different as ethics in medicine to political participation, we shall endeavour to provide a different Islamic perspective on these issues as well as generate free debate and discussion.
As we aim to create an environment which is conducive to free debate and discussion, there is a need for rules. The first, most important and only rule is reflected in Voltaire’s statement:
I detest what you say but defend to the death your right to say it
This statement is reflective of an ethos which will be to avoid denouncing people but instead engaging them in debate despite any emotion their comments may elicit.
